The main lecture was delivered by officer Rosemary from the Drug Demand Reduction Unit who speaking on behalf of both the Zonal Commander and State Commander of the NDLEA, recognised that crime thrives in an atmosphere of drug use, and suggested that lecturers in higher institutions specify penalties for people within the university community who are identified as abusing drugs. She also mentioned that the menace of drugs is always mutating, therefore we all need to keep working to recognise new trends in drug use. The PCRC Chairman, Voke Emore, as well as ASP Firstman Epiekiri, representing the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, also spoke on the topic of drug abuse.
